Happy Solstice

The snow started falling yesterday and I woke up to this scene out my front door. Snow caves, sledding, warm fires, and hot chocolate are in order. Wanna come over?

Snowy Night by Mary Oliver

Snow was falling,
so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.

I suppose
if this were someone else’s story
they would have insisted on knowing
whatever is knowable – would have hurried
over the fields
to name it – the owl, I mean.

But it’s mine, this poem of the night,
and I just stood there, listening and holding out
my hands to the soft glitter
falling through the air.

I love this world,
but not for its answers.
And I wish good luck to the owl,
whatever its name –
and I wish great welcome to the snow,
whatever its severe and comfortless
and beautiful meaning.

Welcoming the light,
Staci

Wow! Beautiful picture and amazing snowfall :) Great poem too :)

Strangely, I'm missing the now these days. It's an unusual 70 degrees in my hometown in Spain today. I was at the beach all afternoon, shooting pictures and getting my feet wet in the very cold Atlantic waters. Idilic, yes... and missing the snow. Is that weird or what? :)

Happy festivities ... snow or beach! :)

Just think that we receive 3 more minutes of light each day now. Isn't that amazing...it seems so small, but the cumulative of those 3 minutes over six months will bring us back into the spring!
It keeps bringing me back to Heidi and baby steps and now the "cumulative effort" approach.

My little espanola....(I made that one up)
¡Espero su día de fiesta asoleado en el terraplén de España usted con bastante luz al último a través del invierno en Alaska!

Besos Y abrazos!
